devotion – from Israel

Good Evening everyone – or afternoon if you are there – it is two days later here, and bedtime! We are all exhausted but all is well, except that Anne, my friend from Daytona, did not have her luggage when we arrived. They have put us into a gorgeous hotel overlooking the Mediterranean this evening (one night only); I will attach a photo of the sunset.
We have seen only the modern side of Israel today – the airport at Tel Aviv, the city, rush hour traffic (like any other city) – and this area of Natanya which is a resort area. Tomorrow we go from the modern to the ancient – to one of the oldest archeological sites, Megiddo. (Think Armeggedon from Revelation). Megiddo is on a hill overlooking the Jezreel valley, where armies marched whenever they invaded Israel – a city has been there for thousands of years, to guard the pass through the valley. We will also see Nazareth tomorrow, and Mt Carmel where Elijah defeated the prophets of Baal, praying for God to send down fire from heaven to take the offering. (Read 1 Kings 18:16 – 43)
