devotion 6-12-15

Good Morning!20 Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine, 21to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, for ever and ever. Amen.
An inspiring message from the office of Missional Engagement yesterday – there were videos of real people who had lost family members or had survived malaria. A pastor in our conference, from Kenya, spoke of having nearly died at 9; his mother carried him on her back to the hospital. But his little brother died on his mother’s back as she attempted to get him to the hospital. And his 3-year-old niece died. These stories brought tears; they were moving.
But the good news is: The Imagine No Malaria campaign has raised $66 Million dollars in 4 years through the United Methodist Church around the world. The goal was $75 Million by 2016. The Florida goal was to save 250,000 lives ($10 / life). Each church in Florida set a goal – some have already doubled, tripled, or even multiplied their goals.
We set a goal last year at our Charge Conference to raise $1000. I believe we are close to achieving that – let’s push it over the top
